So what became of the other band members? Adrian, the singer of Pieces of Mind, ended up fronting Judas Jump, who were made up of members of Amen Corner, the Herd, the Mindbenders and Adrian. Last time I heard Adrian, was a few years ago. He was speaking on a TV documentary about Ozzie Osbourne. Like me, he seems to have lost most of his flowing locks. I have managed to make email contact with Adrian, who is on an overseas 'perma-vacation'. The bass player, who was also my best man, still plays, part-time, in South Wales. I managed to get hold of his phone number and called him. Think it gave him a bit of a fright. Probably thought I was dead!! The organ player, a chap called David Kubinec went on to front The World of Oz and also had a solo career, including some TV presenting on a childrens show. Completely lost touch with most of the rest, however last year, I re-established contact with one of the drummers, who has been a pro ever since 1970, playing with many well known blues acts. I have been to a couple of his gigs and managed to get up on stage and play harmonica on a couple of numbers. I have also played with him and Gwyn Ashton at a local jam session. Wonderful feeling playing together again and to have someone of the stature of Gwyn playing bass for my clumsy lead. We met up with the bass player in Wales, and spent over 6 hours playing much of the stuff we played back in the old days. Whilst in Wales, we also made contact with another member of the band, so we intend having one or two more rehearsals and, hopefully, play a reunion gig later this year. I now enjoy my music playing mainly jam sessions, with a couple of friends, in and around Bucks and Northants. Looking forward to keep playing music as long as my rather mature body lets me. John |
